Step one in any web design exercise is learning about you and your concern, studying the audience you wish to reach, and determining what approach is most appropriate to your needs. For some, a spartan, uncluttered design works best, while for others more "bells and whistles" seem to work. Whatever techniques are employed, however, the design must never detract from the main message or "image" to be projected and must not stand between the user and the information he/she seeks.

CSoft creates fully custom art for all of its client's sites and provides photo services as needed. Naturally, art and photographic work in which your company has already invested will be incorporated as appropriate. Similarly, printed materials you already possess can be rendered electronically to allow your site users to download and print your announcement or brochure.

We are no strangers to video, and this medium is clearly mission-critical to many web enterprises. Depending upon the client's needs we can: shoot the footage; edit the raw video; post the footage, or prepare and stream it.

CSoft sites are standards-compliant creations that are generated in XHTML, CSS, javascript and, where appropriate, Flash. We give attention to accessibility and can see that sites meet 508 standards where this is required. Database driven content generally employs ASP or .NET applications with robust, MS SQL server database management systems as backend, (see Development page).

Depending upon the needs of the client, hosting can be set up in a shared environment, or on virtual private servers or dedicated boxes. Our relationship with some of the most reliable hosting companies allows us to provide clients with economical remote hosting solutions. For clients in the greater New York area who wish to host internally, CSoft can acquire and configure the needed hardware, or can work with the client's IT department to port the website to existing machines.

Web Design

Since the advent of the "World Wide Web" in the mid 1990's, web design techniques have progressively changed. These changes have been based upon several factors, including the evolving role of the web, the emergence of newer technologies and a growing understanding of the way in which human users interact with their computers.

While we enjoy broader design possibilities today than ever before, we also seek to employ more "standardized" ways of creating the user interface. This is important if web sites are to be effective across browser types, platforms and even device types. Use of so-called, "standards compliant" coding techniques is also important in providing accessibility to the greatest number of users.
